A Gilt Bronze Figure of White Tara
Tibet, 15th Century

Well cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, her right hand lowered in varada and her left hand raised in vitarka mudra holding the stem of a lotus bud issuing from the base and rising up to her shoulder, a corresponding lotus flower at her right shoulder, wearing a diaphanous dhoti incised with a floral scroll border, a sash of beaded festoons, armlets and necklaces inset with turquoise, her hands and feet inscribed with eyes, her face lowered in a benign expression with finely incised hair gathered in a bun at the side and centered by a kirttimukha mask tiara, inscribed around the base Given to Dam Chopel, base sealed
